• Many types of bone and soft tissue sarcoma have been found to have associated characteristic chromosome
  abnormalities. Some families appear to have an increased incidence of sarcomas. Another inherited genetic
  abnormality—deletion of the retinoblastoma gene—also increases risk.
• Some chemotherapeutic agents, particularly "alkylating" agents, increase risk of the development of cancer in
  general.
